With global travel restrictions continuing to impact the world, Spooner has looked at new ways to continue effective and close working with international customers in the baking industry.
When starting a new project, Spooner would usually undertake a comprehensive site survey, discuss the project in detail and visit the relevant personnel involved. However, under current circumstances, this has not always been possible and this has encouraged the Spooner team to incorporate new and exciting ways of working with our clients.
The Design of Industrial Tunnel ovens
An essential step in the successful design and delivery of any project is measuring accurately the site. There’s no second chance when installing large pieces of equipment like tunnel ovens and provers and it’s not unusual to need to work around other equipment, structural elements, services, access routes, etc. Where height allows Spooner can offer an L-type prover (see image below), where the prover is located above the tunnel oven, freeing up more floor space for other bakery equipment.

3D Building Imagery

By using 3D Building Imagery Spooner was able to fully measure a customer’s bakery on the other side of the world. By adapting to this new way of working, Spooner has been able to progress projects and avoid any travel restrictions impacting such vital processes. With a Matterport 3D camera, a locally sourced supplier was able to capture the inside of the bakery, roof and floor dimensions.
The ingenious use of 3D technology helped Spooner avoid unwanted delays and saved unnecessary travel time and cost and this legacy data will be available for any future enquiries at the site.
Another great example of how Spooner Industries think laterally to serve our global baking industry customers under difficult circumstances.
